The Mix: Episode 21

Episode 21 has finally arrived after a 2 year delay. I took a good deal of time away from recording my mixes in 2010 and then got back into it in 2011 and to be honest, it took a lot of time for me to get something out there that was not junk. Since this is something that doesn't come to me naturally, it takes a lot of practicing and time for me to crank out something I'm proud of. To give you an idea, I have just under 40 mixes sitting in my documents folder from 2011 and not one of them was what I would consider as worthy for my log of mixes. I have so much music that I want to mix but at the same time realize that it can't all fit into one session. This is the constant conundrum I get in - lots of good tracks individually but collectively junk when I try to get them together. I want to try and get a mix out there at least once a quarter and remind you all that I am still very much into the dance music scene as I have ever been. Hopefully this high energy mix can accompany you for whatever you are out there doing and if nothing else I hope it brings some happiness into your life like it does for me!

The Mix: Episode 20

Wow....anyone alive?? I know that this may come as a shock, but I haven't fallen off the end of the earth and I haven't forgotten about electronic music. I have had a very busy second half of 2009, getting into some new hobbies, but still listening to a lot of dance music (surprise, surprise). After dealing with not having Ableton for a while, I have been back at it, digging through my 2009 tracks. I wanted to start the year off with a bang and let everyone know that I will do my best to be more consistent with my music this year and try to release something on a monthly basis (fingers crossed). I am excited to start things off with mainly vocal tracks from 2009 (with one notable exception) that caught my ear. The first track in this mix is probably the most listened to track I have had on my mp3 player for the last half of 2009. I think it is a great way to kick this set off. Please let me know what you think. Here's to another decade...

Tracklist:
1. Nic Chagall - This Moment (Prog Mix)
2. Bellatrax - Can't Hold Back feat. Tina Cousins (Original Extended Mix)
3. Ercola - Every Word (Original Mix)
4. OceanLab - Lonely Girl (Gareth Emery Remix)
5. Tocadisco feat. Nadia Ali - Better Run (Wippenberg Remix)
6. Late Night Alumni - You Can Be The One (Sultan & Ned Shepard Remix)
7. The Temper Trap - Eurythmic Disposition (Eddie Thoenick Bootleg)
8. Eric Prydz - Call On Me (Filterheadz Remix)
9. EDX - Shy Shy (Extended Vocal Mix)

A Looooong Delay

If you are still reading this, than you are still eagerly awaiting my next mix, which is great! But I wouldn't be surprised if many of the people who visit my site for updated podcasts have dropped off the charts. I just wanted to give a quick update. I have not given up on my podcasts, rather my Apple Macbook has. My optical drive died on me a couple months ago and I haven't had the time to get around to fixing it. I have loads of tracks to share with everyone and have an amazing summer mix that should be out in the next month or so. Thanks for being patient...mixes to come soon!

The Mix: Episode 19

Some great progressive tracks in this one, followed up with one of my favorite Tiesto tracks from In Search Of Sunrise 5. I really enjoy this mix for a couple different reasons. It's a great set to kick-off the spring and I really enjoy the similar sounding progressive tracks in this mix, especially the new track from Joonas Hahmo. With exception to the final track, this set has a load of tracks that mix very well with one another. Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

Tracklist:
1. Oceanlab - Breaking Ties (Duderstadt Remix)
2. Paul Keeley - Life Aquatic (Original Mix)
3. Dinka - Asylum (Original Mix)
4. Joonas Hahmo - Warm Up (Original Mix)
5. Komytea - Professional Killers (Jerome Isma-Ae & Daniel Portman Remix)
6. Serge Devant - Addicted (Club Mix)
7. Matthew Dekay vs. Proluctors - Let The Game Begin (Original Mix)

The Mix: Episode 18

Wow. I have been in a major slump. It has been really hard for me to find something that I'm really proud of. That is saying a lot for this past month and a half because I have been cranking away trying to publish something fresh and something with (in my opinion) as much character as my last mix. I think I was so happy with the last mix that everything was a letdown. That's to say until I mixed what you are about to listen to. It's really funny how these things happen, as the minute you just let things flow and stop forcing it, something amazing comes out of it. There are only 2 tracks in this mix with vocals, but I think that they really standout and this for me makes this mix really cool. All of these tracks really bring about a certain mood, and the song that this mix finishes with has been just getting better everytime I listen to it. I can't pinpoint what exactly draws me to the song, but the vocals are definitely apart of it. Jaren's voice is amazing.

Tracklist:
1. Jay Lumen - Parabola (Original Mix)
2. The Jay Lumen Vibe - Atlas (Original Mix)
3. Thomas Schwartz - Jupiter Calling (Original Mix)
4. Yves Larock - Say Yeah (EDX Re-Dub)
5. Chris Lake - Carry Me Away (Original Club Mix)
6. Jaytech - Headcase (Original Mix)
7. Funkagenda - Breakwater (EDX's Ibiza Sunrise Remix)
8. Santiago Nino feat. Jaren - I Don't Know Why (Jerome Isma-Ae Remix)

The Mix: Episode 17

I am really excited to share this mix with you as this is my last mix for 2008. I have probably listened to this one 5 times already on a few different bike rides I have been on alone and I have to say that I am extremely pleased with it. This could quite possibly be one of the more "complete" mixes I have done. It carries a very strong feeling from start to finish and if you listen to it all the way through, I'm sure that you will share this thought. The sounds in this mix are the progressive house sounds that really attract me as a listener and make it a lot of fun to mix a set like this one. This is very different than my trance compilations, so put on your headphones and enjoy the journey. Happy New Year!

Tracklist:
1. Son Kite - Focus (Shiloh Remix)
2. Ercola - Every Word feat. Daniella (Wendel Kos Club Mix)
3. Kismet - Staten Island (Original Mix)
4. Nadia Ali - Crash and Burn (Sultan & Ned Shepard Dub Mix)
5. Serge Devant - Sweet Harmony (Isma-Ae Remix)
6. Jaytech - Vela (Electrobios & Interplay Remix)
7. Morgan Page - Call My Name (TV Rock Remix)
8. Jay Lumen - Ultra (Original Mix)
9. Dinka - Ordinary People (Original Mix)

The Mix: Episode 16

The month of November was pretty busy for me and unfortunately I was unable to mix enough music to find something I really liked. I am (believe it or not) very picky about what I do and do not publish and it truly comes down to whether or not I record enough mixes to be able to pick 1 that I think flows well enough to publish on this podcast. Being as I have only really been mixing music for about 2 years, this process is still sometimes very aggravating, but for the most part is fun to just see what goes well together. Anyways, here is another mix for your listening enjoyment. I decided to go full on trance for this mix, but manage to keep a fairly progressive sound. These tracks are all tracks that I have heard played out by some big names live and they sound really good in clubs and large venues. The Andrew Bennet track, Closer is one of my favorites tunes right now. I took this mix with me on one of my more recent bike rides and decided that it was something that I would share. Let me know what you think.

Tracklist:
1. Darude - I Ran (So Far Away) feat. Blake Lewis (Gareth Emery Remix)
2. Gareth Emery - This Is That (Original Mix)
3. Andrew Bennet & DJ Tatana - Closer (Than a Heartbeat) feat. Tiff Lacey (Gareth Emery Remix)
4. Mr. Sam - Cygnes feat clAud9 (Original Mix)
5. Super8 & Tab - Elektra (Original Mix)
